Why Does The Church Need Money?

We have to pay bills like everyone else! Almost everything we do in our churches is paid for by the gifts given by the people in the church, although we were able to claim on the insurance when a large part of Tweedmouth’s roof disappeared during Storm Arwen! As well as the electricity and gas etc, we also have 3 old buildings to care for, two of which are Grade II listed.

We have to pay a contribution to the Diocese of Newcastle who provide us with a full-time vicar to serve our 3 parishes and other support.

We are very grateful to the Mercers’ Company which gives financial support to each of our churches.
