Baptism & Confirmation

Baptism (All Ages)

‘I baptise you in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit’

After a thanksgiving for your child, you may want to explore more about baptism. We invite you to a series of 3 sessions, to explain more about the Christian faith and the meaning of baptism, together with understanding the role and commitment of parents and godparents to raise their child/god-child as part of the family of God.

Please get in touch with Rev Rachel to explore this.

Once you know more, if you still wish your child to be baptised, we will arrange a date which will also be within a regular Sunday service.

Older children and adults can also be baptised and they make their own promises to God after a similar short course. This is very special and we would love to support you through this important step. Email Rev Rachel.

Confirmation

‘Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit’

If you have been baptised and would like to confirm the promises made for you when you were a child and become more involved in living your faith as part of our church communities, please get in touch with Rev Rachel about preparing for confirmation.

It is possible for an adult to be baptised and confirmed within the same service. Confirmation services are conducted by a bishop and take place several times a year in different churches in the area.

Young people can be confirmed once they reach an age of understanding what they are promising – each young person will be considered for confirmation on an individual basis.
