The Benefice of Scremerston, Spittal & Tweedmouth
Welcome! We are three neighbouring Church of England parishes in quite different communities who are linked together in a benefice – that’s a church word which means we work together as much as we can and share our vicar and other ministers.
Who We Are
We are people who follow Jesus in the way we live. It is people who are church and we come together to learn more about Jesus and how to be more like him. We invite you to join us in some of the activities you can read about here, so you can discover for yourself the difference Jesus makes and you can experience his love.
Come to a service – you can see when they are here or any other event – you will be made welcome. Services are very varied but usually include music, prayers (talking with God), reading the Bible and learning about what the Bible teaches us about God and how to live. A service can be designed for all ages, young people, families and older people.
The photo on the left is an Easter Garden, made by the children who come to Tea Time Church. Several of the events of the first Easter tool place in gardens. Jesus was betrayed in a garden. This garden shows a cross, which is how Jesus was executed and also a rock tomb. Jesus was buried in a traditional rock tomb but the stone which sealed it was miraculously moved and the story didn’t end with women coming to care for his body but with one of those women meeting Jesus who had come back to life – the resurrection. This is the foundation for our belief in Jesus.
